Stonehenge y Glastonbury

Hi guys!

Aquí estamos una semana más, esta vez os enseñamos nuestro viaje de fin de semana a dos lugares muy "mágicos" de Inglaterra, Stonehenge y Glastonbury (Avalon). 
El primero tiene algo que no sabemos explicar muy bien, es una sensación, un sentimiento... a la vez que recorres el círculo descubres que hay un círculo mágico que lo rodea; el segundo, para todos aquellos seguidores de las aventuras de los caballeros de la tabla redonda, un lugar especial, donde se supone se encontró la tumba del Rey Arturo y Ginebra, y lo que se cree fue la llamada isla de Avalon.

Here we are again, this time we want to show you the photos of our trip to two "magic" places in England, Stonehenge and Glastonbury (Avalon). 
The first one has something that we don´t know how to explain... something that makes it a very special place, something you can only feel when you are there. The second one is a very special place for anyone who likes King Arthur adventures, his tomb was supposed to be found there, and it´s the place called Avalon.

"Lugar del antiguo cementerio donde en 1191 los monjes cavaron para encontrar las tumbas de Arturo y Ginebra"

Como curiosidad, fue Eduardo I de Inglaterra (el de Braveheart jejeje) el que mandó trasladar los restos del Rey Arturo del cementerio al altar de la abadía. Y fue Enrique VIII el que, queriendo apoderarse de las riquezas de la Iglesia (sí, una amortización a la inglesa) destruyó la abadía y mandó colgar al abad y descuartizarlo (sí, estilo Braveheart). Y nunca más se volvió a saber de los restos del Rey Arturo, alimentando la leyenda.

As a fun fact, it was Edward I (the one in Braveheart hahaha) who ordered to move the tombs inside the abbey. And it was Henry VIII, who willing to posses all the church treasures destroyed the abbey and hanged, drawn and quartered the abbot (yes, Braveheart style). And nothing was known ever again about King Arthur tomb, so the legend is still intact.

Edimburgo Edinburgh

Como lo prometido es deuda, tarde pero aquí está: Edimburgo

As we promised, late but here it is: Edinburgh

El primer fin de semana de Julio nos fuimos de mini viaje a Escocia, y digo mini porque fueron apenas 24 horas en Edimburgo. Tiempo suficiente para enamorarnos de la ciudad. 

The first weekend of July we went in a small trip to Scotland, only 24 hours in Edinburgh. Enough time to fall in love with the city.

El fin de semana dio para mucho, y no sólo pudimos ver los sitios más emblemáticos de Edimburgo, como el castillo, la catedral... también hicimos una cata de whiskys (The Scotch Whisky Experience), una visita al Edimburgo subterráneo del siglo XVI (The Real Mary 
King´s Close), probamos el haggis (Wikipedia: plato típico escocés normalmente se elabora a base de asaduras de cordero u oveja (pulmón, hígado y corazón) mezcladas con cebollas, harina de avena, hierbas y especias, todo ello embutido dentro de una bolsa hecha del estómago del animal y cocido durante varias horas) y nos pegamos una buena caminata para subir al "Trono de Arturo", una montaña volcánica desde la que se divisa todo Edimburgo. Os dejamos unas fotitos para que disfrutéis con nosotros del viaje.

We did a lot of things during the weekend, not only visiting the most famous places in Edinburgh, like the castle or the cathedral... but also trying 4 different whiskys (The Scotch Whisky Experience), visiting the hidden Edinburgh of XVI century (The Real Mary King´s Close), trying Haggis (Wikipedia: savory pudding containing sheep's pluck (heart, liver and lungs); minced with onion, oatmeal , suet, spices, and salt, mixed with stock, traditionally encased in the animal's stomach though now often in an artificial casing instead) and we walked up the Arthur´s Throne, a mountain since where you can see all Edinburgh. Dentro del castillo se podía visitar la cámara acorazada donde están los Honores de Escocia (la corona, el cetro, la espada y la piedra del destino).

Inside the castle we visited the Honours of Scotland (the crown, the sceptre, the sword and the Stone of Scone).

Por supuesto no faltaron las gaitas por la calle, ni una tienda muy curiosa (abajo) de cositas de Navidad :)

Of course we met bagpipers, and a really nice shop all about Christmas! 

Volveremos seguro, porque nos quedamos con ganas de mucho, mucho más. Pero por ahora esto es todo, prometemos volver a escribir pronto :)

We will be back for sure, because we really want to see more. But that´s all now, we will write again soon :)

Después de un tiempo complicado... Volvemos al blog! After a really busy time... We are back!

Después de unos meses de locos en los que... ¡NOS HEMOS CASADO!
After few crazy months in which we said... I DO!!! 

Estamos de vuelta. Por fin podemos volver a dedicarnos a algo que nos llena, nos gusta, saca lo mejor de nosotros... y ¡nos encanta!.. VIAJAR
We are back. Finally we can spend our time again in the way we both love ... to TRAVEL


Después de la boda, y de pasar unos días en casita con la familia, decidimos hacer una parada en nuestro viaje de vuelta a Norwich... y esa parada tan especial fue... PARIS. 
After the wedding, and after spending few days with the family, we decided to stop in the way to Norwich, and the city we chose was... PARIS.

Por supuesto no faltaron las visitas a la Torre Eiffel, el Arco del Triunfo, Notre Dame, Sacre Coeur... pero no nos olvidamos de lo más importante en todos nuestros viajes... la ruta gastronómica! Este viaje nos empachamos de foie, queso, vino, pato... vamos que seguro volvimos con algún kilito de más...
Of course we visited the Eiffel Tower, Arc de Triomphe, Notre Dame, Sacre Coeur... but we didn´t forget about the most important part in all our trips... the foos! During the trip we ate a lot of foie, cheese, wine, duck... We came back with one or two more kg... but who cares!

Un gran viaje, corto pero intenso. Y con Paris retomamos el blog, pero prometemos volver pronto con un post sobre Edimburgo, ciudad donde hemos pasado el último fin de semana.

A great trip, short but intense. And with Paris we are back to the blog, we promise to come back soon with a post about Edinburgh, where we have been the last weekend.

Navidad en Norwich

¡Hola chicos!

Hi guys!

¡¡¡¡FELIZ NAVIDAD!!!!

Este año no hemos podido pasarnos por España a celebrar la Navidad con nuestra familia y amigos... pero no por eso hemos dejado de celebrar Nochebuena y Navidad. De hecho, hemos intentado unir costumbres de la familia de uno, de la familia de otro... y mezclarlas un poco con las tradiciones inglesas. Por aquí os dejamos unas fotitos de estos dos días.

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!

This year we have not been able to go back to Spain to spend these special days with family and friends... but there is no reason to stop celebrating Christmas Eve and Christmas Day! In fact, we have tried to join our families customs and mix them with the proper amount of English tradition. We let you here with some explanatory photos of these two days.

 Y de plato fuerte un trozo de cordero, que el ternasco anda escaso por aquí ;)

And for the main: Roasted Lamb, a bit older than the one we are used to... ;)

Y de postre unos ricos turrones, lo clásico: duro, blanco y suchard!

And for dessert the classic turron: hard, soft and Suchard!

Y como este año hemos sido buenos Papá Noel trajo muchoooos regalos :)

And as we have been good Santa Claus brought lots of presents :)

El menú de hoy un poco más comedido, bombones de salmón y vieiras gratinadas.

Todays menu a bit lighter, salmon bombons and gratin scallop.

 Como plato principal un clásico inglés... ¡Pavo relleno! Como sólo era para dos hemos cocinado medio pavo (del que ha sobrado más de la mitad jejeje)

And for main an English classic... Roasted turkey! It was only for the two of us, so we have cooked half of a turkey (and eventhough we have eaten only half, :)

Y de postre otro British must: ¡Pudding de Navidad! No nos ha motivado mucho, pero el acompañamiento, una espcie de crema al cognac, estaba... mmm.. de muerte!!!

And for dessert another British must: Christmas pudding!! It was not that good, but the side, a kind of cognac cream, was...mmm.. awesome!!

Y ya nos despedimos preparándonos para el Año Nuevo, que esperamos celebrar con Ignacio y Patri. Esperamos que hayáis pasado una muy Feliz Navidad!!

And now is time to say goodbay, getting ready to celebrate New Year´s Eve with Ignacio and Patri.

Christmas at London

¡Hola chicos!

Hi everybody!

Este fin de semana hemos vuelto a acercarnos a Londres, esta vez para disfrutar del Museo Británico y de las luces navideñas que decoran la ciudad. Podríamos decir que este sábado no sólo hemos estado en Londres, si no también en Grecia, Egipto, Persia... porque en el museo lo tienen TODO, en mayúsculas sí, el Partenón entero, la piedra roseta, cientos de momias y sarcófagos... aunque de muestra aquí os dejamos sólo a Jorge al lado de una armadura sumará. Si queréis ver el resto, ya sabéis, un viajecito a Londres y podréis verlo todo en un sólo día :)

This weekend we have gone again to London, this time to enjoy the British Museum and the Christmas light decoration of the city. We could say that this saturday we have been, not only in London, but also in Greece, Egipt, Persia... because you can find EVERYTHING there in the Museum, yes, in capital letters. The full Partenon, the roseta stone, hundreds of mummies.... But here we will only show you Jorge just next to a samurai armor. If you wanna see the rest, you already know the way: a ticket to London a you will see everything within one day :)

Después nos fuimos a ver el Londres navideño, Trafalgar square con su árbol gigante bastante cutrecillo y un belén en el que no sabes quién es la Virgen y quién San José... El árbol del Parlamento, mucho más majico y arreglado, Picadilly Street... y no nos pudimos perder una feria navideña en Hyde Park, Winter Wonderland, donde probamos el vino especiado caliente que entraba... vamos menudo peligro! Así iban algunos a las cinco de la tarde... gritando 
"¿Qué queremos? La Navidad! ¿Cuándo la queremos? YA!!" 

After the museum we went to see London at Christmas, the huge tree in Trafalgar square (quite ugly...) with a Nativity set where you could not even know who is Mary and who Joseph... The Christmas tree at the Parliament was much better and nicer, Piccadilly Street... and we could not miss a typical Christmas Market in Hyde Park, Winter Wonderland, where we tried the mulled wine... too easy to drink! Quite dangerous! That is why people was quite 'happy' at 5pm shouting: 'What do we want? Christmas! When do we want it? NOW!!'
